LTTE explodes a lorry loaded with civilians

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, the media spokesman on national security exposed at a press conference held in the Media Center for National Security that the LTTE fixed a remote controlled bomb in the body of a 13 year old girl and exploded it killing 20 persons at Puthukudyiruppu in Mullaithivu district.

The Minister said that the LTTE sent three lorries loaded with the civilians into the state controlled area and exploded one lorry. He said that no one had focused attention to this incident and the problem of LTTE holding back people was also not spotlighted.
A journalist enquired about the details of the incident. He asked when and where the incident took place and how many were killed. Since there was no direct answer he posed the same question again. In response, the Army spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara stated that the incident took place on February 03 and 20 persons were killed. He did not answer to the question how many civilians were among the dead.

Both spokesmen deny divulging the damage caused by the explosion.
