The latest statistics on civilians rescued from the terror clutches in Wanni reveal that 10501 civilians belonging to more than 1500 families have given refuge since the first of this month. According to the defence sources in Wanni and Jaffna, over 10000 civilians have come to Kilinochchi while 139 others have come to Jaffna since the National Independence Day (Feb 4). Among the rescued civilians are over 2800 children and about 3000 women, the sources add. Arrangements have been made at the frontlines to provide immediate medical care and refreshments to the civilians seeking refuge with the security forces. Also, transportation of the patients to the hospitals and others to civilian welfare centers elsewhere is provided by the security forces.
